K&KA has provided design and construction coordination services to U-GRO Learning Centres since 2000. The Brighton Center facility in Manheim Township and U-GRO Hershey in Derry Twp, reflect the latest design in the evolution of the prototypical child daycare center. Brick and stucco walls, expanses of glazed curtain wall, steel roof projections, and a vivid palette of contrasting colors are components of the modernized prototype child development facility. The program is organized off a spacious circulation spine affording direct and clear site lines to classrooms. Rooms have direct access to secure outdoor playground areas that flank two sides of the facility. The prominent two-story “Resource & Technology Center” provides for group assembly, computer instruction, and indoor recreation. The learning centers accommodate 120 children ranging in maturity from infants to preschoolers.
