Architectural design considerations for this three-story abandon factory building encompass issues relative to exterior restoration and interior core element reorganization for adaptive reuse. The original boiler house ruin was maintained as a feature element of the courtyard entrance and bricks were quarried for reuse from the unused portion. Fire damage to part of the complex required replication of wood windows and doors and brick masonry detailing. The building is organized around a shared entry lobby that incorporates a new elevator and open stair. A garage is integrated into space located partially below grade. K&KA provided tenant fit-out interior design and furniture procurement services to the Visiting Nurses Association for four floors as well as first floor banking space for BELCO Credit Union. The firm executed National Register certification form work and tax credit applications.
